The artwork represents primarily the idea of a safe place, a cocoon-like shelter.
A lonesome refuge from the world as a state of mind in times of struggle and inner conflict.
A state of obscurity and inner debating, of crisis and stillstand, of desperation and fatigue, of confronting and collapsing, of challenging and questioning.
A space of processing and accepting, of transforming and reorientating, of restructuring and repairing, of emancipating and surviving. A place of storm and silence.
The bursted egg - of cultural significance, as an universal symbol of spiritual self-awareness, fertility, life and resurrection,
in budhism: a metaphor for a spiritual birth, transcendence, the bursting shell of ignorance - a birthplace of a new ego, a new self-perception, a transformed identity.
A skeletal construction, embraced by a flood of delicate flowers, metaphores of decay and life.
A protective cover of monochrome flowers formed of thin crinkled shiny paper. Just like skin that seperates the inner from the outer world.
A surface refering to a crackled egg-shell that is no longer in a perfect state, with marks and imperfections, creased, wrinkled and perforated - though
an emerging and blooming membrane that catches light from different angles and reflects it just like the sparkle of an unique and precious jewel.
1000 flowers mirror just like dutch flower still-life paintings in all their baroque splendour not only the idea of vanitas, cryptological communication and
hidden symbolical meaning, but also a time in where a rising self-awareness was the source to the enlightenment and
therefore a starting point of our todays society, of our modern world.
A world in where some human beings struggle to find the right spot to bloom.
